Hmmm,

Did it stay on or just beep intermittently? Mine beeped intermittently but only VERY occasionally, turns out it was one of the lambda sensors on its way out. . Covered by warranty . I was told this light comes on if the mixture is not 'stoichiometric' i.e. lamda <> 1 (within certain limits).
Joolz/Danny correct me if I am wrong on this

If the above is correct then driving the car will burn out your catalytic convertors.

Best bet is to have it trailered to a dealer (or good independent) who will be able to plug a laptop into the ecu to find out what the fault is.

Hope this helps

Rob.

Mine used to beep occasionally when I was going along although most of the time it never made a sound.

If it does it again I would get it checked out for peace of mind, it could just be a simple electrical fault but then again it could be more serious.

Could also be your alternator on the way out.
