Joined ELAM last week (East London Advanced Motorcyclists) and what a weekend. There was a social ride on Saturday which was absolute quality. A group of 17 bikers, of all abilities went out for theday, and I had the best ride yet. I spent most of the time laughing to myself (out loud) inside my helmet as I was having so much fun. Not sure if everyone has had this experiance, but I got to ride with a couple of other guys on sports bikes, and it was just brilliant....I was following them at a perfect speed ie fast enough to make you grin, but not out of control
Then on Sunday, we had a Machine Control Day. This basically comprises of a group of observers teaching you the finer points of controlling your bike..Generaly at slow speeds. Once again, excellent experiance, and I came away from the weekend with much more confidence.
I so recommend things like...so if anyone gets the chance....DO IT.

Chilli,

You might also want to check out BikersOracle.com if you don't already know it. It's a pretty social-based organisation across the country: during the summer ride-outs tend to involve Sunday lunch somewhere.

You'll always find a few of the VFR Club arm at Box Hill on a Sunday morning, and a few of us gather at the White Hart in Billericay on Wednesday evenings.

Chilli,

Don't know what's going on this Wednesday - I certainly won't be there as I've done my back in. But if there are a few planning to go up there it's most likely to be posted on the VFR forum on Bikers Oracle.

There are seriously strict conditions attached to joining 'the VFR club' however. You must ride a VFR - or any other sort of bike. And if you don't ride a bike at all (some are too old, too young, have given up due to injury), that's ok. In short, all are welcome.

I'll check out what's going on over the next couple of weeks and keep you posted on pistonheads.
