Morning,

My S1 wont start this morning, which i believe is due to the amount of rain last night. It would even turn over at first, but it is now, the fuel pump is working.

It now turns over for 2-3 seconds then theres a bang and the dials reset themselves and it stops turning over. I've tried 7-8 times.

I've looked at the engine bay and it is drenched. It working fine last night so is it just the water & TADTS or is this more serious?

Plus i'm later for work and dont want to walk over a mile to the bus stop

Possibly :

Water in the plugs.
Water in the distributor.

If it's a K-series there are a few connectors that have trouble with water, on the top boot side of the engine.

In short, get drying!

To dry it use wd40. Open the dizzy cap, liberally spray on wd40!

I was just about to post this....
Last 2 big downpours have stopped my S1 from working, it fires up usually but is really lumpy and backfires.
Called the AA and they said is was water in the cap, cant remember its name, where the 5 plugs go in next to the engine. Remove the 2 screws and pour water/wipe moisture out and it works again.
I was just wondering if others had this problem and why is the cap letting water/moisture in? seems really stupid even though the seal seems fine.. can't go out if its raining now!

Its the first time its happened to me but it did rain a hell of a lot last night. I've spoken to John at Westover, who said pretty much the same, just dry the d cap off and should work fine, if not use a bit of WD40, so ill give that a go when i get in from work tonight.
