For V8 in a cerbera
Discussion
Hi All
I read on the Xpower forum that a Cerbera is being converted to V8 power at Dreadnought anyone here?
Why a ford V8? (unless you are looking at the supercharged 600bhp+ 4 valve versions!)
Are you cutting into the engine bay?
I just realised the 4.6L V8 in my ZT 260 (260ps) has less peak power than and 4.2L six in a 60's Jag E-type (265bhp)
There must be a better option (LS6)?
Cheers

ooo so not fair ..
I mailed calire to say that although I still think cerbies should have ajp8s in them, I admired their *get stuck in and change the engine* way .. just like i admire the way steve heath has got stuck in there too, but it's ceased to be a cerbera anymore.
whilstever there's still plenty around though I think it's perfectly alright for people to put whtever engine they want to ..
I'd love to do a 7 litre jaguar V12 into one, my own speed 12 for about 15k*. sounds like a winner to me
* that's 8k for a blown up cerbera, 7k for a 7 litre engine and lots of late nights working for nothing ..
real price closer to 25k i'd imagine.

I wasnt having a dig at Dreadnoughts plans. But ask any engine enthusiast and he'll ask the same "why that one though?".... its too bloody heavy, the cars weight balance goes off the scale, the engine is just an old-skool block, too much weight, not enough power.
Steven Heath has chosen an engine thats just fine... My view is, if you're gonna swap the engine, do it for something equal in delivery terms or better... and definitely watch the weight, a cerbera with double the weight up front would be like driving a bloody what van!
All good work though, whatever takes peoples fancy... I told Craft about the engine Dreadnought were using, and he just fell off his chair "what?????"....

Hi SXS
I am missing something here aren't I!
Has this project been discussed before?
Also I assumed a Ford V8 as that is Dreadnoughts speciality so apologies if I got it wrong.

If it was the Sean Hyland Modular Ford V8 (which I know they've used in some MG conversions), then yes, superb idea... but the one they're planning on using is just a brick!!!!
It was talked about on the Major Mods forum.
This is the picture I believe was posted by Claire:

What about Powertecs twin'd suzuki 3L Should give some 436bhp at 10.500 i think... Awsome! a bit low on torque maybe... But hey, the 'note! Freckin!
Uhm... I estimate the 3L "christine" to max out at 260 lb/ft
So if you then add a Lysholm 2100 supercharger (the best match)
The lysholm is a smart supercharger, it has a clutch!
So while you shift, it disengages (can be set to do this)
It can also rev 13.000rpm, way above the engine it is huffing.
Ah, the agony!!!
You could get some 390 lb/ft out of it!
Yarr! and some 630+ bhp! Say!
630 bhp and 390lb/ft /530+nm aint bad!!!
The wildest one yet I think!

Or...
How about a twin engine config?
One 2.6 normally aspirated up front, and one in the rear!
Yarr! The madness!!!
Up front...
down the derriere...
Now that would be an expensive piece of automotive art!
Hehe, ok, så it would be more madness than doable, but it
would be absolute PistonHead!
