Have just got my first chimaera and the world already seems a better place. However, I have a couple of queries:
1) The clutch always engages but the travel on the pedal seems to vary, its not stiff but its sometimes only goes a little distance and then you cant press it any further. Other times it goes a long way????
2) Have read that you shouldnt put a cover on the car it is already wet however if it is wazzing it down surely it is better to put the cover on rather than leaving the interior to get dampy and musty?
Apprecaite that these may be stupid questions any help gratefully received.

There's a couple of places that rain can get in over time, but as a rule there's no need to expect water to come in. Quite a few owners keep their car outside, myself included. Mine's bone dry.
The clutch pedal problem is a bit of a mystery to me, though: I can't imagine what could cause that problem if the clutch is still working properly. Hopefully someone else will come along who can throw some light on it.

Dunno about question 1, but question 2 is easy.
If the car is properly sealed, no water will ever get in. Now you can do a few things to check its sealed up when parked.
First, check that all the velcro bits on the wings work properly. Second, go to B&Q and get some Thompsons Water Seal - FOR FABRIC, not bricks! Then give the roof and the hood a good scrub, and then paint the water seal onto the hood and roof. Careful not to splash it on the bodywork, although it will rub off easily enough when dry, with a cloth.
Also check that the seals at the top of the windows are intact, and check the drain holes in the bottom of each door aren't blocked up (they allow water down the glass, inside the door, and out the bottom).
Do those simple things, and water shouldn't ever get in, ever. Be careful though, if you wash the hood with a brush or sponge, you'll have to re-waterproof it as it rubs off easily. Normal water from a hose won't remove it though.
When the car is being driven, thats a different story. There are a few places water can get into the cabin, nearly all from the engine bay. If you get damp footwells (around the pedals and battery box) thats a sure sign that something is leaking, and people here can tell you exactly what to look for if that happens.

Nah, even my missus has found this problem, not that shes been allowed to drive it that much! Its definitely a mechamical problem although its not effecting the clutch itself....
Ive had a look at the "the bible" and the clutch problems in there seem more serious, i.e. the clutch itself not working....am just concerned that it may be a sign of the clutch on the way out....

..another favourite place for water ingress is around the fluid reservoirs on top of the wing under the bonnet....some black gooey sealer may be in order!
(but then that wasn't your question..I'd leave the cover off until car is dry)

Will check the carpet but I think it is something else as when the travel is short it comes to a definite stop not a spongy stop I think I would get if it was stopped by the carpet....but you never know!
The fact you cant put a cover on when its wet is a bit of annoying catch 22, thinking of getting one of those covers just for the roof that Leven make?
