Are these any good… After a recent karting session on Monday evening, I found my local out door karting track (Daytona in Milton Keynes) now runs sessions for Mini Motos (owners).
Having seen Mini Motos going on ebay for about the £120 - £150 mark:yum:, this seems like a bit of a laugh.
Any good for a 6ft 14st lad. I’m used to riding bikes (ZX6R, 916, etc).
Does £150 get you a decent one, any thing to look out for, or past experience anyone could pass on…

Mini Motos are fantastic, ive been to a track a few times recently. I use one near to Chippenham at a place called Hullavington. They charge £10 for 10minutes, but if you take your own, you pay £20 for the whole 4 hour session.
£150 will indeed get you a piece of far eastern crap, but it should still be a laugh - at the end of the day you'll be slinging it down the track every few laps anyway, so no point trashing an expensive one. Obviously, the expensive ones will take more abuse before they're fit for scrap, but it all depends how much you want to spend.
From memory Polini & CRC are good ones.

I bought 2. They are cheap items at £140 each, but endless fun and cheap to repair. My sister dropped one and snapped a peg, but at £3 to fix, its good value fun.
I am 15st and 6'1" and i fit ( sort of ) and its fun but dont try knee down stuff, its too cramped.
The link should get you to a pic of me on it, your views if its too small. And yes, i'm not wearing ANY safety gear. The hallowed Tarmac is Tetre Rouge, Le Mans france

My old one
Good fun
That looks fantastic, was that one of the less expensive ones, or did that cost more than my £150 throw away budget I'm looking at...?

Not to sure mate, had mine in 2003 I think & it was about £500 then
I sold it for about £450 later in the year.
I'm pretty sure they are much cheaper now, prob £150-£200 I think
Couple on ebay now

Thought id love it, tried it & hated it.
Spend more bouncing down the track on my head or arse than on the flippin' thing.
That's part of the fun mate
I generally have trouble walking for a couple of days, and the hour long ride home afterwards is always a bit uncomfortable! I'm pleased to say that my knee is on the ground on most corners, but mainly because it means I don't fall over so much when the bike drifts. Except when the back goes, catches again and highsides you at 30mph. Very funny.
I had 2 CAG's also (the cheap chinese ones), great fun, I gave one to a friend as he helped fix a electrical problem i had with the main bike.. .. .. the reeds and rocket key upgrades are well reccomended, I bought a performance exhaust for it also.. .. .. .. .. lasted 15 mins, now it has the revision 2 CAG exhaust, seems ok, no performance increase though.
they are great fun, just remember to use your elbows round the corners

Well I’ve just returned from my first session on one I brought. I ended up with a £107 (inc delivery) bargain off ebay I brought just over a week ago…
Never laughed sooo much about falling off…!! The track was the Daytona – Milton Keynes go-kart track , with a wet-damp track which got drier towards the end…
Was fine for the first two laps, then I started to push it (well sort of.!) ended up falling off seven times in total. Twice I lost the back, and the other times just losing the front under braking.. Soooo much fun. But admit a little cramped…
Was made much better by the fact there was four other chaps with the same bikes, so we all circulated together, playing a game of, who’s going to fall off next.
Amazing I’ve got next to nothing of fairing damage, just a couple of small scratches on the rear cowl. Nothing a couple of well placed stickers (which were including in the price!) wouldn’t cover up.
