Whats all this about then

Surely the 290 S is taken straight off the V5 and doesn't imply any ignorance by the seller. It's clear he does know it's a 4.0, and there's nothing about the car or advert to imply it's anything but a straight forward V8S. Might take issue on the price, but apart from that I don't see anything wrong here.

I hear what you are saying Pete, but even if your car had 290s, as many still do, on the V5 would you advertise it as a 290S?? Of course not! Call me suspicious, but hes implying hes had the car a long time, so he should know its called a V8S or maybe he really is a complete numpty that thinks its a 4ltr 290s and is worth £18K+...... I will watch the auction with interest, I have sent him a message askiing to go and have a look, so will let you know.

Maybe. I've spoken to people who were convinced that the Griffith/Chimaera 500 models were called that because they produced 500 bhp. On that basis a 290 S has got to be a lot better than the 'cooking' 240 bhp version hasn't it?
