i have a late 2004 boxster anniversary which has just had its 3rd gearbox fitted. still not resolved original problem being a vibration through the drivetrain on lift off at 3200rpm. porsche are now confused as to the cause and resolution. does anyone have any experience or suggestions? oh and hi-first posting.

Difficult to diagnose from here... If they keep replacing the gearbox and it doesn't stop it, maybe it is engine mounts; flywheel; who knows? I am not sure why their techs can't pull a finger out and investigate it properly for you. I'd ask them to replace the car if the problem persists or start writing to head office and the MD and saying how the OPC's inability to fix a problem is trying your patience.

Oh, and welcome to the forums.

Welcome. I'd try "Give me my money back now!".

Good luck.

3rd box, if you fit a new box and it still does it, why fit another, or is it the first going back in

thanks for the replies. update- decided to pursue issue through porsche GB. customer services now involed and the service from stratstone seems to be improving. odd that!! requested the car for 3 days to diagnose the problem. mention of swapping wheeels, driveshafts and full allingment. car goes in on the 31st with further inconvenience and cost to insure the courtesy car.
will keep those interested informed.

quick update.
had the car back from OPC on thurs last week but not had a chance to drive it. finaly took it out last night. guess what? vibration/ rumble still present despite OPC confirming it had now been resolved. porsche replaced cracked underbelly cover which was causing the vibration (nonsense) and tried different driveshafts.
service manager/senior technician confirmed any noise heard now is normal drivetrain mechanical noise.
porche GB customer services are being helpful in attempting to resolve the problem but the technician appears to be unable to.
any suggesting would be gtreatly appreciated. should i try another dealer?
