Been a foolish clown and lazily overfillled the oil.

It rests a good 2 inches above the 'max' mark of the dipstick.
Questions:
1. How much oil (litres does a Speed Six take to fill to 'max' from 'min'?
2. How much oil does the average Tuscan owner (non-track) burn off, per thousand miles?
3. Will the excess oil be burnt off OK in my car, or would I be better off draining it (pain in t'arse).
4. What is the oil that the Tuscan owner finds most delicious? I used 0/40 but should I try summat else?

Merci Buckets.

Now, I don't claim to know everything about engines, but...

You effectively cannot "overfill" the Speed Six - it will not cause damage as "most standard" engines would be affected. It's still not recommended that you overfill, of course.

Probably consumption is in the range of one litre for every 500-1000 miles, so it won't be overfull for long (but it depends upon the engine, your driving, the oil, the time of the full moon and whether there's a butterfly flapping its wings in Japan....)

Edited because I forgot to answer all the questions:

About one litre from max to min.
There a a gazillion threads on "Which Oil" - but I'm on the watery stuff like you. As I see it a teensy tiny advantage is that the oil can get circulating a bit quicker from cold, but the possible downside is that it's too thin at higher temperature, so always keep an eye on pressure (the handbook says about pressure staying above 35psi on track days - well, apart from idling you can expect that on the road too)

The last time my car was serviced at the factory they filled it about 1.5 litres above the max mark.

Thanks beano. I often wondered but never dared to ask!
