The BBC said:
But I think that by putting really offensive language next to words like ladies and elderly it cheapens the effect

These people.. they are the death of the spirit.

Ladies = feminine, fun creatures who smell of perfume.

Women = drab frumps.

I always thought being called a lady was supposed to be a compliment, not a derogatory name.

Living in t'north I get called love, pet, sweetheart, duck and many other things on a daily basis and I like it!

I may even suggest it is racist of them to attempt to destroy out dialect.

I think it already has, but not the one you're thinking of.

I wouldn't mind being lined up and shot, if only to get away from a lifetime of aggravation from these imbeciles.

Do you ever get the impression that some people feel the need to justify their own existance?

Watching 'Yes Prime Minister' last night, it could have been written last week it's so relevant to current times.

Agree with you completely. But its not racist.

Anti-Northist, maybe, but not racist. People of all races often share the same accent here in the UK. If someone accused me of being racist because I stated I didn't particularly like a certain accent I'd be highly offended.

P.S. Nowt wrong with northern accents. I'm a "Northerner" myself - if from another country!

I wonder if this will appear?

Wot I said:
That's it, stop the world, I want to get off. The next person to think up some hairbrained scheme to ban some word or other should be summarily dismissed on the spot.

Do we actually need "Corporate equalities" anyway? Why not do away with the department completely and lower our taxes?

We can't call dwarfs dwarfs, we can't call ladies ladies, we can't call fat people fat and we can't call old people old.

What do we call them? The other terms are more offensive. PC has outlived it's usefulness and it's time PC was banned.

I can't believe we actually pay these people to think of these ridiculous ideas.

If you think it's time to get a grip of 'PC' then read this and listen to the link. I'd suggest listening to about 5 mins before the suggestion in the thread though, so you can see what the fight was about.

I'm doing a really good line in 'brainless blonde' today - and I'm not even a natural blonde! Wonder if the bleach can leach through your skull?
