Im new to this TVR lark and so far had a mixture of emotions with my new toy. I can now say that im hooked on the pleasure and pain of ownership. (Chimaera 4.0). Ive read about bushes and brakes etc. Can you guys direct me to a site that gives a listing of spare part compatibilty? (Ive quickly sussed that TVR source parts from other major manufacturer's more popular models). Brakes are Ford I believe (What Ford model?). But what about gearbox/diff and running gear parts? Thanks for your help in advance.

I think there is a guy called Peter Beech that has such a list on his site. I don't know the URL but I think he is on the TVR webring too, so I am sure it would be easy to find.

Several people have set out to do this, in fact I'd be surprised if there wasn't a list on Pistonheads somewhere ...

The main problem is that TVR continually changed the spec and have not been consistent about what cars used what components. You can produce a list for your car, but there's no guaranty your next door neighbour with an identical car has the same parts. So often the best you can do is list the most popular choices. The second danger is that TVR modified some of the components before fitting, so just because you match the part number, doesn't mean you get an identical part. The safe bet is to get your TVR serviced and maintained by a TVR dealer or specialist. Next best thing if you're into DIY is for parts you're unsure of, get them through a dealer. Third option if you're really confident is use the lists as a starting point and match the part number yourself and check the old and new components side by side to make sure they're identical. Remember, just because they look the same doesn't mean they are identical so be extra careful about fuel regulators and the like which tend to be 'recalibrated' by TVR.

Just to second this point. I have received some pretty abusive communication from people who have bought parts based on parts lists etc and then found that they don't fit and got stung for a large restocking fee.

Search these archives and there are about 12 different brake pads which all fit. They don't BTW but some can be made to but have greatly reduced pad area and with 30% less pad area, think what it does to your braking.

If you want to source elsewhere, check and double check and prepared for a difference or it not fitting.

I'm sure it's the Challenger Tank you need for the front indicators - they may have tried the Sherman for the rears at some stage tho...
