Has anyone experience of noise tests with a Larini equipped S2?

I have a day booked at Bedford next month but have just read there have been a few issues lately with people failing noise tests.

I know they are not the loudest of exhausts but that is based upon what it sounds like inside the car so I have no idea what it is like externally.

The drive by test is 87 dbs from about 20 meters.

General consensus with exhaust and induction is if the cat is fitted you should be OK. Static test is around 102dB at 4K revs (can't remember exactly). Larini is said to be 96dB. On drive by the exhaust will measure less.

If you're worried and have a cold-air induction kit, aim the intake pipe backwards toward the wheel arch or use the original ducting (double-thickness)

S2 111S with Larini Clubsport (no mods to induction or cat) gets a green sticker every time and no attention on track.

Thanks Kevin - my car has the original cat so hopefully I will be ok.

Interesting to see your previous cars - you have good taste. I have also owned a puma and a S1 106 Rallye. I share your sentiments as to what a rallye is like once past 5,000 revs - I was always nervous it would go bang though.

Cheers - I made a point of buying drivers' cars a few years ago, about the time I could afford to spend more than £2K on them! So it started with a 309 (sadly not the GTi or even SRi, couldn't find a decent one for love nor money then), started to get a feel for what a decent chassis should feel like, moved on to the 106 and never looked back since!

BTW who are you doing the track day with? If you've never been to Bedford, it's up with a lot of 'real' circuits, some really good corners plus you can push it as there's loads of run-off.

Anybody have a list of the various noise limits in force at the UK tracks?

Not sure quite how loud mine is, but I think I may have to make some changes to get on any more track days
