Just watched the news and it was cringeworthy watching the Tory MP's literally running to get their faces on TV. They will be so embarrassed when they see themselves on telly.

Billy Conolly got it right when he said "a desire to be in power should, in itself, preclude that person".

I see what he means, but then you get a leader who doesn't want to be one - which is hardly going to work either.

I would amend that a bit Srebbe, those who enter politics with the sole intent simply to wield power over their fellow citizens are a menace. Those who join to help their fellow citizens as public SERVANTS are not.

But that's not as funny, though

Makes me laugh - the other night after the first ballot, when they all lined up behind their guys, all wanting to get on the tv, all just faces - none of them recognisable.

They all shuffled in like some chain gang.

And now we have to endure another 6 weeks of these 2 half-wits strutting in front of the cameras trying to impress the massed ranks of the Conservative party.

No wonder they can't win an election if they take 3 days to whittle down 4 candidates to 2 then another 6 weeks to actually pick a winner. What a bunch of tossers.

I'm sure the blue-rinse brigade are going to love this, meanwhile, i'm cutting the plug off the TV.

[Candidate]

I am the very model of a parliament'ry canditate
I'll promise lots of goodies through my policies inadequate
You'll find my private life is more than just a bit degenerate
At Question Time, you'll find my lips are verging on inanimate

I'm very well aquanted too, with being inarticulate
I understand that sometimes shady dealings I must approbate
About election time you'll find I'm filling up the news
With many cheerful facts about my wider reaching social views

Although it seems sometimes that my campaign is unravelling
For during my interview, they couldn't stop me babbling
And so it seems my tiny brain may be a little over-taxed
I'm learning from my colleagues, to stay composed and look relaxed

Now Tony's taught me all he knows on sharing knowledge openly
I'll learn from my friend Boris how to tackle issues tactfully
And Kilroy Silk's got lots of tips on party unanimity
Oh Yes, I'll soon be a paragon of virtue and integrity
