Hi Guys,
when I send mail to someone with an attachment to it, the attachment is not readable ie, half a photo or just text in gobbly gook.
Anyone any idea why this should happen.
Graham.

I did not get any help on this one, but now when I try to send an attachment (photo of 3Mb) I get a dialogue box saying there is not enough memory. Will this be computer memory or virtual memory?
Anyone know what is going on please?

Really not enough information there to be going on with I'm afraid! Anything saying 'not enough memory' isn't good but if everything else runs OK then memory may not actually be the problem!

What is the machine spec and which email client are you using?

Thanks for the reply.
Here goes -
pentium(R)4 CPU 3.06 GHz
512 MB RAM physical address extension
XP home SP2
using BT broadband with Outlook Express
the PC is networked to another PC via cable which works OK.
Hope this helps.

3MB is a very large attachment to send over email - first thing I'd do is to reduce the size of it with your favourite image tool. 640x480 should be ample for sending snaps around; if you really need to send full-size images then you probably need to find a better way than email.

OE is also an absolutely terrible email client, so if at all possible ditch it and use something decent (Thunderbird gets very good writeups) - you may find the problem goes away. Failing that can you re-install OE?

3MB is nowhere near too big for an email attachment, esp over broadband. This error doesn't seem to be size related (unless the mail client is crashing when trying to convert the attachment before sending) but can't see why that would be the case for a 3MB file. Best guess would be app problem.

When do you get the error? Right after pressing SEND? Check your task manager to see what apps/processes are hogging all your mem - you may have a rogue process clogging your machine???

Try hotmail'ing the attachment to yourself as a test?

It has gone from bad to worse now, although perhaps it may explain the problem?
OE won't open now, says "MSORES.DLL" file missing.

Will I have to put the windows repair disc in?

Not looking good SOrry to say...

What version of office do you have? Best bet would be to can OE all together and use Outlook 2000/2003. IMHO

If you want to try to fix OE you will most likey need the original install disc (XPHome with SP2).

Good luck.
