Discussion
Cabal, I've been meaning to start another thread on warranties. Most people seem to use Warranty Holdings, the question is whther you buy it through a dealer or directly from WH themselves. It's a lot cheaper directly, but if you pay the extra & buy through a dealer they seem to have extra leverage & I believe you're more likely to get work paid for. & then of course some argue that warranties are a waste of money anyway, if they couldn't make a profit they couldn't sell them. But its the piece of mind factor I guess, esp with any of the modern TVR's where so much can go wrong. It's a tricky one. BTW, I found the WH phone number ages ago on a TVRCC discussion thread.
Thankyou, The Mighty Chimp for a prompt reply how much can i expect to pay? ball park is fine. I resently saw a 4.5 cerbera with a 12 month warrantee for 28K. now been slashed to 24.5K with only 3 months.

I think thats them. I don't know how much you'd need to pay for a Cerbera warranty (I've got a Chim BTW!), but if you buy directly be very aware of what's covered - might be worth having your car inspected first to see if anything could conceivably need work in the near future??? The level of warranty cover you can buy also gets less extensive the older a car becomes.
The TVR warranty that came with my car has been great value for money and to be honest almost everything that has gone wrong with the car has been claimed under that warranty even an oil leak ..... i think it depends on if the dealer can push your case for you as they must know more than the warranty company or you what is a failure and what is wear and tear on the TVR model in question.

Who is yours with?
Just bought a warranty with warranty holdings spirit through my local dealer (hexham).
Cost just under £800 and had to have an inspection prior to cover.
My thoughts on the matter were - I don't know just how reliable my particualr car is (as each one is different and i've had mine 1 month now) so I'll have a year of warranty till I find out.
If it proves to be reliable with smallish bills then next year i'll not bother with it.

well, i have dealt with numerous warrnaty companies before and warranty holdings is the only one who said a bust rear diff was due to wear and tear (every mechanical moving part wears) anyway took it to a couple of places and ended up with a main deal in chessington (who deal with WH all the time). they were great and really pushed it with warranty holdings but to no avail. so next step is the diff problem was a pre existing condition when i bought it form the non-tvr dealer and he has tried to wash his hands of it but am in process of letters/solicitors letters/suing him.
cheers all
