Question for all those knowledgeable types on here! I am fitting a water-cooled engine into the back of my SS and will have to run long lengths of pipe forwards, as I want to have the radiator in the front, weight issues etc. I am going to use a spacer between the body and the chassis and was wondering if I could kill two birds with a single stone. I am not thinking of gaining more than 50mm in height and so I expect a maximum of 40mm internal diameter. The question is what is the minimum diameter of pipe that I can use without restricting the cooling? The small diameter will only be used on the straight sections and I will increase the diameter where possible. Also can I use ordinary household pipe work? I would like to include some lagging on the pipe to try and avoid excessive hearting of the cockpit. Any advice would be welcomed,

The VW transporter mid eighties models used long plastic pipes approx 1.5" in diameter between front rad and rear engine, try getting some of them perhaps.

The size of pipe is dependant on the size of the engine and the amount of heat it needs to shift.
You will need pipes as big as, if not larger, than the hoses already used on the engine.
Don't forget to add an air bleed pipe from the top of the rad back to the engine bay and into the header tank which must be positioned higher than the rad.
