993 Ruf Turbo R

Hi all,

As you can tell I have recently sold my Noble and am looking at buying a 993tt. I have spotted a Ruf R at Gmund cars and was wondering if anyone has seen it or knows of any of it's history.

I know its been up for sale for a very long time.

Think the car was up for ~£55k originally, so has dropped around 10k.

Ring RUF with the VIN no to check exactly what they did to the car.

You would need to have the car fully checked over, preferably by a firm or individual familiar with RUF such as GT 1 in Chertsey or an outfit conversant with modified turbos. You might even think of having RUF send a tech over to do the checks, it would not be cheap, but would be worth it considering how much ££££ a rebuild would cost if there were any issues.

I would have a compression test done too, plus rolling road check done on the car to make sure it was putting out its 500 odd hp quota

If it all checks out, then you have a bargain.

I dont want to say much as Im prob a little biased -

My best friend is the son of one of the owners

Its on a sale or return - dont get me wrong - its not like there not pushing it etc etc due to margins on sale or returns being a little less - they have spent a lot of money servicing it - warranty etc etc which all comes off their fee.

It is a lovely car seen it first hand on many an occasion.

Have you considered the Riveria blue 996 turbo looks better in the flesh - i dont normally like the 996 but this one looks more special and is fully loaded

Thanks for the replies, I will defo. get it inspected if I decide to go for it...just can't decide if a standard 992tt will be sufficent!

I will be using the car as my everyday transport, I have a EVO 8 MR RS which I use on track etc.

I have despatched an email to Ruf to see if they can tell me exactly what work was done. Also the car comes with comfort seats and light and dark blue leather interior! Gmund are sending some photo's so I can see it first hand.

Has anyone driven a Ruf conversion like this?

If I remember rightly the car is/was owned by a guy in Nottingham and I remember the local specialist (who really knows his Porsches) saying it was awesome and unbelievably quick. That was some time ago though and can't vouch for its condition now although I think plenty of money has been thrown at it.

It was up at £55k originally and I do think its a bit of a bargain as it stands now if it is 'spot on'.

ive owned a RUF 993 and i can tell yah they are bloody awesome in every respect , maybe i shouldnt of sold it but thats another story , very rare and extremely quick and can be used day to day with no problems,

Aye but 'er in drawers is keen on a Gallardo so I'd better stick to the plan or I'll be for it, at least it's no problem mentioning L-cars on a Porsche forum, nobody will notice
