This has happened to me too many times for it to be a random thing-
I am walking along a street, headed for a shop doorway. At the same time a female person is approaching the same door from the opposite direction. She realises that I'm headed for the same door and she speeds up in order to get to the door first. I don't usually bother to compete because I figure if she's in that much of a hurry then OK, she can push the heavy door open for me and get into the shop first.
Similar stuff happens approaching checkouts but these races I usually win.

Tell me it's not just me that this happens to...

It's all these newfangled women that don't like doors held open for them, or being told they have a nice rack.

I've had it at checkouts - I usually say something to embarass them so they feel really uncomfortable while they're unpacking

But what is it with women and the narrowest parts of pavements and supermarkets? You could have an entirely clear pavement, but a woman will always stop to do whatever it is women do when they do these emergency stops when they're by a parking meter or tree or something.

I saw something like this on a recent trip to Amsterdam, all of these girls were hanging around in doorways.....looked like they we're off out for the night and must have been waiting for their boyfriends to let them in.....why don't they just get a key cut?

Oh and some of them definitely need curtains for their lounges....you can see right in!

You can open the door for me, but I'd rather you kept your thoughts about my nice rack to yourself

I thought this was just me!! I park in the farthest spot away from the doors, where no other cars are parked for 50 yards or so, and when I come out, there always a car either side of mine, but still no other cars for 50 yards!

You get this in department stores too - people will actually form a queue for a door that is being opened by people, ignoring 10 perfectly good doors. I hate sheep mentality and usually stroll past everyone and open my own door - then people start moving behind that door.

I usually slow down so that men can hold the door open for me
