Watercolour painting
Discussion
OK a subject I know nothing about, but dear old mum is into it and I want to get her some stuff for Christmas. Can someone reccomend whats worth getting and a suitable (and cheap!!) website to order from.
She is an amateur painter but does go to classes btw.
Also whats that website that sells tools like screwfix and machinemart but run by someone on PH?

The trouble is David that "watercolour" is a pretty huge subject - go to www.daler-rowney.co.uk and have a look at their watercolour products. They do some nice sets by the way. How long has your Mum been into it, and what kit does she have? A set of high quality - the highest quality you can afford - sable brushes will never go amiss. Likewise paper/pads - things a watercolorist always needs. Even a nice thing like a heavy glass pot for water - maybe a nice cut glass thing she'll use all the time, would be appriciated. Or an ArtBin for her to keep all the bits tidy and handy - I've still got mine from twenty five years ago, with the same stuff in. Looked after it lasts forever.
Grumbacher, and Windsor & Newton are two pretty good brands of paints, though she probably already has a particular brand that she uses.
About the brushes: high quality is really important. It may seem like a lot of money, but they do last much longer. I know this because the bristles come out of the cheapest ones.
