Queen and Dire Straits
Discussion
My brother brought me into the 21st century by buying me an MP3 Player today (oh yesterday). So, I've spent the last few hours transferring a few CD's to the product in question. Well, okay, my 14 yr old son did it!
Anyway, as part of my middle age collection I've got all the queen and Dire Straits albums from the 70's and 80's - and others.
I have to say, classic stuff or what? As I write this, I'm listening to "Romeo & Juliet" (Dire Straits). Maybe I'm a sad old git who simply doesn't get "The X Factor", but I reckon you'd have go a long way to beat Queen, Dire Straits, Pink Floyd, U2, Phil Collins and other 70's and 80's albums.

I'd agree with you there and I'm in my mid-20s And a minority I'd wager
Blimey you're a rarity - especially as you're from the USA. Welcome to the hall of fame mate.
I'm actually from Dorset
(just over here temporarily - if you can call at least 5 years temporarily) . And have a father who played me into submission as a toddler with rawk from the 60s/70s/80s
Though the Midwest radio is absolutely cracking for saddos like me

No, no you wouldn't. Any live pub band will suffice.
Pah... Listen to freddie, Knopler, and Collins live, and there are very few who can do it. Look at the freddy mercury tribute concert where they sang his songs. many of the Big stars could not get the notes that freddy could. george 'I'll see you in the bog' michael being an exception...

With the exception of Phil Collins I'd have to agree with you Steve.
My personal favourite Dire Straits track is 'Tunnel Of Love' from the live album Alchemy.
As for Queen - where to start? So many great tracks from all of their 'eras'.
I know it's trendy to laugh at Phil, probably because he's still alive, but he did write, and perform, some really good stuff!

No No thats that Toya Wilcox bird
the game commences....
for the usual fee....
Yeah im 32 and when i jump in my car i have everything in my stacker from Lemonjelly to Matt Monroe.
Nothing beats driving down the Great Ocean Road here in Victoria with "Days like these" by matt munroe blasting out of the ICE!
The oldies are great crafted music, theres very few artistes out there that have an iota of these guys talent. Shame the majority that do are sidelined for more mainstream crapola.
now wheres me Gareth Gates cd gone....
