My car went in for work on the air con unit yesterday. At the same time they adjusted the timing chain. When I started it up, it failed to idle and cut out. Started it again and kept the revs up a little and it seemed ok, so I drove home.

This morning it started a couple of times and just cut straight out, even after trying to keep the revs up.

Won't start anymore, and has a Code 4 EFI Fault, which I assume is the fuel injection.

Phoned the TVR garage and explained the situation. Told them in my understanding if the timing is wrong then the car won't idle, so it must have been something they did yesterday. They had few staff in, but the guy said they it wasn't related and they had their best specialist working on it etc.. but no one could help today, call back Monday.

1. Tell me I'm not stupid and that if the timing chain is not adjusted correctly the car will not idle, and will likely cut out?

2. Is the EFI Code 4 likely to be a symptom of trying about 4 or 5 times to turn the car over and failing to start?
