Speedo fault. Help needed

Hey guys.
I had to take the diff out as I thought it needed a rebuild. However I was lucky and it turned out to be the wheel bearing. Now that its all back together and nice and quiet I have a speedo problem. It is over reading by quite a bit. Have looked in the bible and it turns out that its due to the gap between the sensor and the wheel being too big, BUT it does'nt tell you in the book what the gap should be.
Am I correct in saying that this is the cause? If so what should tha gap be?

yeah the gap being to big can cause it to mis read.
Most people seem to screw it down until it touches then undo it slightly. It really is a nats cock (techy measurement ).

In my experience, the only way to successfully ensure the gap is the same measurement as the 'gnats cock' referred to is is to use feeler guages.
Chances are that there's never an obliging gnat about when you need one and anyway, it's a real bugger to get the viagra down their little probosces. I found 6 thou' did the trick.
