I am currently using an olympus c5050 digi cam, which I am really happy with..ie functions..

f1.8 to f8
16 seconds to 1/2000th
movies with sound
Semi decent super macro

But... what really matters in a camera...the photos are to noisy and not as clear as I'd like.

I don't have particular preferances to what I photograph, but I like low level light shooting, macro and landscapes,so generally I'm looking for a jack of all trades with good optical zoom and clarity more than anything..and I dont print a3 photos etc, mostly for computer use and the odd a4 print.

I would prefer buying 2nd hand, maybe a few years old so I get good value for money, and only want to spend up to £300 all in.

I know people always swear blind there camera is the best to use etc, ease of use isn't important cause I reckon any camera is useable ( obviously ).

Please can anyone give me some recomendations, with a possible link to a review etc.

Thanks.

This site pretty much reviews every camera under the sun! www.dpreview.com/ Although some of the names might be somewhat different.

A good place for cheap Canons is the Canon Outlet on ebay http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Canon-Outlet The 300d tends to go for over £300 still though.

My advice is to find one you like in a shop by having a play with it and see how you like the feel of them. For the money you are looking to spend you're not going to have the biggest choice if you are after an DSLR though

I'll make way for all the Canon and Nikon bods to tell you that the camera they have is the best ever!!

Noise could be a product of the camera being set on auto-iso. Try turning off auto iso and then setting iso200, it will likely help with the noise.

However low light performance will suffer - and an SLR wont help that much here - as you aren't likely to get better than f1.8 without spending big money.

if you are looking to go to an SLR, the £300 wont buy you a nikon so I guess a second hand 300D will be the default choice.

Bought a Canon S70 a few months ago. Fantastic. Easy to use, great results, good fully auto mode and very adjustable as well.

Should be able to get one new for that money.
