looking for a Cerbera

Just sold my car and now on the search for a Cerbera (first TVR aswell)
Any pointers i should be looking for? I don't have the biggest budget in the world so will be looking at low end prices. Also wanting to use as an every day car, sort of.
Don't mind traveling for a early xmas bargain! :D

tis a strange one buying cerbies .. general concensus is to not buy the frst one you see, but a good friedn of mine did exactly that and got a real nice car, sometimes the first one is a very good one 
sensible head though says go with a specialist tvr seller (this could be a tvr dealer if you go with one that has a good sales record) but 99% of people who have dealt with james agger are very happy. The other 1% can't get him on the phone

Hello Joolz. Sorry to just drop in on you yesterday but as I was in the area with Rob I thought I'd show him where you were for future reference. Didn't expect you to be there but I should have known better!!!
Anyway, on topic sort of. I bought the first one I saw. I went to look at a couple of others afterwards but came back to the first one as I could tell the woman who owned it didn't really want to sell (a good sign IMO)

Hey Andy .. no worries .. was just finishing with Mike (the person co-incidently who bought the first cerbie he saw lol .. from harrogate hc, is a nice one )
Rob seemed a decent chappie, it's always good if you can sell a car to someone who's going to look after it ..
you raise a good point about the personality of the seller though .. if they have a story about every part of the car, plus a set of receipts that show a sensible maintenance schedule then you're well on your way to owning a good car. I always say to private buyers to look at the seller as much as the car .. [blatant bloke mode] if the seller is female it's even more reason

Just about. Virtually done a deal this morning, subject to an inspection and a few more insurance quotes.
Another lad coming round this afternoon to have a look.

The other lad who is coming around is probably Joe. Yours will be the first one he has viewed so should set a bit of a benchmark. I've also poited him in the direction of Dave Morgans white Cerb (which he might also be viewing today) so it will be an interesting comparison. Best of luck with the sale.

Yep, it's Joe. He called just after I posted to reschedule for next week. TBH, it's not a great day up here anyway, roads are slippy.

I bought the very first one i looked at properly too, and have never regretted it
Thanks to both Andy and Julian yesterday, at least i know where to go now for the upgrades

I committed the worst of all buying sins and got ours without even seeing it in the flesh! I had a conversation with the owner on the phone for about 30 minutes along with a few pictures off of ebay. I must say I'm very pleased so far and have nearly done 1000 miles in the 3 weeks we have had it. No real problems to speak of just the odd niggle like the windscreen seal coming unstuck at 160mph.

Don't think i'll be buying this one though. seemed to run a bit lumpy as though it was missing a bit (or is this how they are).
And although the owner has had the car for years didn't know much about cerbs at all......
Speed 8, was it you that called me the other day while you were out on your bike, is your car still available? if so would like to come look maybe next weekend though as it's to far for me in the week.

Good luck with cerb purchase. Pay as much as you can for a good un. Try calling a specialist servicer and ask him to recommend a customers car.
Dont forget that you will need £3K pa for servicing and repairs. If you get away with just £1K pa then you have been a rare commodity in Cerb world. £2K is more normal. £3K is starting to get reasonably unlucky (but not unusally so) and anymore is very sad. My last one cost me £13K in 2 yrs (thanks to the fettling my someone before I bought it - as a result I wouldnt recommend one garage nr me!).
