I always found the OEM ones to be pretty good. The only downside for me was that they make you buy the brake wear sensors separately.
Not too much squeal, fine control, as you want.
Big braking does require a fair bit of force, but once you get them working they do bite the speed off.
The only way I can vouch for this, is as a result of coming down a fairly steep bit of dual carriage way watching a tractor proceed into the return to single carriage way.
I don't know how fast I was going, but I thought I would make it. As I got closer realised that I wouldn't.
How I scrubbed the speed I'll never know, but I did!
Maybe whizzy ones are better, but that day I thanked Graypaul Motors!

I have always found Pagid hard to beat on any car. The OEM will almost certainly be Galfer, Brembo's own brand and I agree that they are not bad.
The worst pads I have ever used were EBC. If they were disc friendly, they lasted around 20 minutes on track. If they weren't disc friendly, your discs lasted a track day. I was at a track day at Croft some years ago. I watched a short Scotsman, driving a Subaru, buy two sets of Red pads in one morning. Oh how we laughed when he came in at lunchtime and asked us what colour EBC we were using, his second set being finished.
At the end of the day, you have to decide where you want their performance to be optimised. Pulling out of your drive, on a cold morning, big three figure stop on a dual carriageway, 30 minutes of fast country lane, track day.
