Is it only me that thinks this or is she up herself?

Today on the Marr programme she was moaning about tax breaks for artists (like she needs family tax credits: 15 minutes to throw an ash tray and a half eaten butty on her bed and ask £300,000). Then she interupted John Major talking about the need for more support for Africa and somehow tried to suggest a link with art. I know, lets paint them out of starvation, persuade African leaders to stop oppression by a visual representation though the medium of the bits left over from my slovenly lifestyle. Come on girl, wake up these are real people dying.

She is inarticulate, self-obsessed, not very bright and dare I say talentless (unless you count getting loads of dosh out of the Tate Modern as a talent) judging by her work. And I thinks she looks like she needs a bloody good scrub.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks she's that far up herself, she's almost inside out. It's almost as if you say that (some of)this modern art is crap, you are a phillistine - let's face it - an unmade bed is an unmade bed!!!

.

Why doesn't she sell some of her hideous modern art - and give the money to charity -....................... to buy some food for Africa ....... this would also remove some of her art from public view - double the benefit then

She's bonkers and her art is shit, yet there's something about her that I find strangely attractive

Reminds me of how ridiculous it was to hear of Angelina Jolie meeting with Hilary Clinton and Condoleeza Rice. Who are these people, artists and actors who pretend for a living, that they think they have something to say about policy and economics? Are you kidding me? Just because someone gets a lot of attention, they start believing they're knowledgable on all subjects. It's one thing to have an opinion on something outside your field, but to think to advise people who have studied and been involved with the social, historical, legal, economics of a situation when you only have some paltry fine arts education is just unbelievable. "Why can't we send more money" is just a moronic oversimplification and reflects their steadfast and determined ignorance of the more complex causes and effects of things. These people need to shut up and figure out how to paint a decent picture (or find a decent script as the case may be). Too many overpaid, underworked artists.

I did enjoy the interplay between TE and Ian Hislop on HIGNFY. Obviously Ian Hislop tends towards the opinions expressed here, and the slagging match was rather fine.

The best art performed by Tracy Emin was a large fire in a warehouse...

Nicely put. You can put Geldof and Bono in that pot as well. Pop singers - know your limits!

I think that at a glance she looks quite curvy, and the low cut frocks and short skirts can draw the eye away from the face, which is quite frankly abit scary. It reminds me of someone who has been squashed by something heavy. I wasn't going to get too personal but you forced me (bigger boys did it).

Politicians shouldn't entertain the thoughts of intellectually vacant 'artists'. What do they know? Their lives are lived in a vacuum, visited only ever so infrequently by the BiB locking them up for taking drugs. They have people making them Lattes, bring them puppies to tickle and telling them they are something special because of the pay packet.
