Hi Guys, I'm just visiting from another group...

I have an M-series TVR which uses your bombproof rear hubs, TR6 and 2000 possibly?. I have a set of 7" wide revolution alloys that I'd like to fit, but don't quite have the inboard clearance, such that the inner rim JUST contacts the spring when fitted.

What I need therefore is a couple of small (maybe 3/8") wheel spacers to go on the back. Have any of you ever fitted wheel spacers on the rear, bearing in mind that:

a) No-One seems to make longer studs (7/16 UNF with countersunk head) and
b) The hubs would be very difficult to split to get longer studs in

I'm hoping that SOMEONE has successfully fitted rear wheel spacers to this hub. Any advice or help would be very much appreciated...

Thanks,
Stu.

Jigsaw Racing Services may be able to help you (www.jigsawracingservices.co.uk/).

They specialise in tuning parts/services for Triumphs and sell both 43mm and 67mm studs that fit the small Triumph hubs (Herald/Spitfire/Vitesse/GT6) so may well fit the larger Triumph hubs.

Check out their Le Mans Spitfire while your there.

Nick is correct. They fitted some longer studs to a Mk1 2000 estate last year to allow for larger minilites and used Spacers.

The Lemon is a bit smashed up at the moment but is still worth a look.

Good luck

Thanks for the lead Guys, I've contacted them and the chap is currently trying to remember how they did it on the 2000....

Will report back if I get anywhere with this, otherwise I may have a set of 15" revolutions for sale!

Hi just reporting back on this.

The chap at Jigsaw (who was very helpful) said the spacers on the 2000 were only very thin (7mm ish), and they did it by a combination of machining the hubs slightly, and searching their stocks for studs that were slightly longer upon receipt (1/16" I believe). This isn't quite enough for me...

I have found a possible solution though. I've been warned against machining standard studs to give them the 45° countersink that is needed as there isn't enough meat on the head, but a chap called John at Ears Motorsport has some 55mm long standard 7/16" UNF studs that for some reason have been supplied with much thicker heads than standard such that it looks like the countersink can be safely applied on a lathe.

I'll give this a try and see how it goes. Thanks for your suggestions.

Stu.
