Just been sent these pickies by my peeps in Ecuador.

Sierra Negra Volcano on Isabela Island in the Galapagos has just started erupting!!

The official bulletin of the Galapagos National Park said that on Saturday, October 22 at 17:30 Sierra Negra Volcano erupted sending a cloud of ashes into the sky. Lava started to flow along the northern flank of the volcano, forming three rivers of lava.

Sierra Negra Volcano is located in the southern part of Isabela Island, and, at the moment does not present any threat to the population of Puerto Villamil in the southern tip of Isabela.

They've promised to send me some more in the next 24 hours or so.....

Well, I think it's a bit too big to be a mushroom.

That'll be a significant cause of global warming.

The trouble is though, you can't tax it or blame anyone.

[Nerd mode] Actually, really big volcanic eruptions often reduce global temperatures by blocking out the sun with ash and crud. [Nerd mode off]

Don't know if this un is gonna blow big time, but I for one would love to be nearby to watch it.

Seems to be a shield volcano, so unlikely to make a big bang.
