Supercharger fitted to Corolla using 'yota lump from 111R
Discussion
Fensport have been selling a SC for ages. The trouble is, it isnt very good.
My point is that there are a few SC kits for the yota lump but even in the celica lump they arent that good and it would take some real skill to get the mapping correct.
Saying that, I had a mk1 mr2 SC and that was INCREDIBLE.

this sc in a 111r would be great it might only be a moderate boost bhp wise but seeing as no intercooler seems to be required would solve the pakaging issues i'm sure? + the extra midrange would be good too and a light car like the 111r would probably get a big performance boost from this

theres also a guy in the usa whos doing a supercharger for 111rs (250 or 280 bhp). intercooler in the side pod.
too early to say how good it is, as i think hes still developing it

Ideally, the IC should be placed in a position to receive decent airflow. On the Mk1 MR2 SC, the IC was in a similar position to the Exige 240's, directly on top of the engine. It suffered from heat soak on long and/or hard driving. Many force fed engines place the IC behind the front grille but the downside here for a mid engine layout is the long distance down small pipes to the engine.
I would like to see an IC placed at the bottom of the engine compartment with a scoop cut into the underpan to direct free-flowing, cool air directly at the IC.
All wishful thinking, I guess, as I think it will be some time before Lotus offer an upgrade unit or variant of the 111 with a blown engine.
Just my 2p worth...

So we have some options, a small intercooler placed at the bottom of the engine bay or at the front of the car instead of the oil coolers.
I really dont think there is enough room in the bottom of the engine bay. In front of the engine there is the fuel tank and at the rear there is the exhaust.
In the nose behind the "quater vents" would seem a logical place to put it. What are the negative points about putting the intercooler so far from the engine?

Pressure drop amongst other things.
The position of the IC on my old Scooby made a huge difference, as did the water spray. essentially the more cold air you get the more more dense the air becomes and therefore you get a bigger bang.
Many people moved the Scooby IC from a flat position on top of the engine to a vertical plane at the front of the car. This drove far move cool air into the IC. The WRC Scoobys have a front mounted IC, the air scoops are only for show (and to make people like me think I had a rally replica!)
