Anyone know where the new cars are construced at TVR? I imagine that there is a bit more to laying up carbon fibre than fibreglass and you need a ruddy great autoclave to cure them in too

I know the rep who supplies TVR with the carbon fibre, he told me that they produce the bodies "in house", not suprising as all you really need is heat & vacuum, autoclaves are for high spec components that don't get painted.

I'm surprised, if the craftsmanship on the Tuscan R racer at the TVR stand is anything to go by the quality is spot on

You can get "show finish" carbon without autoclave, but takes hours to get good & they probably finish with lacquer.

We spoke to PW about ordering an R is raw carbon with no paint, and he said possibly but to get a better finish with the layout than that on the race car body would take lots and lots of time.

We thought the race car shell looked fine.

The other problem he thought was they were not sure if teh laquer would stay on properly ....
