Janspeed for a start.

I think I'd go for a late 4.6 block (5l are too different internally, hence expensive when they go wrong, which any RV8 wil do at high power)

GEMS fuel injection/ignition
Not 'too' wild cam, so its still drivable, not...wait for it...wait for it...BANG, oh crap next gear over revved the power band
Supercharger
Wildcats heads (as were after serious power)
The standard lightening of flywheel etc
Bosch high flow injectors
Water injection, just for the hell of it
NOS again just for the hell of it

Things to lose:
1. Ignition/fuel ECU
2. 8V heads
3. Camshaft
4. AFM & plenum chamber
5. Distributor

Things to add:
1. ECU & ancillaries designed for the engine eg. GEMS
2. 16V heads with OHC
3. Induction system that breathes better, plus:-
4. A Rootes Blower (or two )

Things to change:
1. The sump, for one that's less prone to leak.

I seriously looked at it when searching for a Chim. There was a car for sale with a blown engine in the classifieds at the time for about 8k, and an AJP (4.2) for about £3.5k... was tempted, but no bugger would insure it...

How did Jell get on with the LS6, that must be pushing out about the same BHP as an AJPV8. did he spend 20K uprating the suspension?

I know this won't be a popular view, but I'd fancy using the motor from the new M5 or if that doesn't fit, the lump from the E39 should go in alright.

But then, if money was no object, I wouldn't be driving a Chimp, I'd be down the Aston Martin garage ordering a Vanquish. Sorry !!
