Damn and blast it ..windscreen has a bloody crack in it.

Been on to Puntoarse and now waiting for a call back.

Knowing one can get some mis-information passed down the line....anyone have any idea how long it may take for the thing to arrive at my local glass fitters.

just had mine done through insurance and was quite painful:

Insurance co recommend one of the large replacement company's but they have difficulties fitting them! (they freely admitted it) and my TVR garage had a couple in repairing the above companys efforts... so after some negotiations appreciated the Insurance company allowing me to go direct to my TVR garage

but be wary of where you get it fitted..

and also TVR couldnt promise any windscreens to be delivered this year!! (honestly, their excuse was no boxes to ship the windscreen in..) so might only be able to source it via dealer network anyhow

PS £600!!!!!!!!! :-0

Other half had a chip repair in her screen yesterday

Chatting with the autoglas man

He has done one, takes 2 days to fit

Very difficult to remove, has to be "chipped" out taking extra care cos of the leather dash.

screen then has to be sealanted in

all the rubber seals round the edge then put back in by hand

and he said £1000 yikes, keep the insurance up

I reckon so Al...but my Insurance Co won't pay out the full amount if the work is carried out elsewhere.

Been onto the two companies concerned today...one of which is next to bloody Us and the IC which are digging in.

Neither can get hold of the screen....funny that.. not.

Called my local guy..he called back 5mins later, yep you guessed it Monday ok for you Phil.

Well it would be but for the fact I'll be out of pocket to the tune of £450 plus

I'm sticking it on the back burner till Monday, when
the Blackpool work force return from hols.

Word of warning! When I had mine changed it made the engine noisier, and not in a nice way!

Something was missed out, and the engine noise leaked into the cabin, but manifested itself as a clackety clackety noise. Took a while to sort out.

I had same prob' in June after a stone chip v quickly turned into a crack. I was told no screens untill mid Sept which pi**ed me off some what. Autoglass was choice thro ins company and they had gone to TVR directly. I rang every dealer in country and not one screen in stock! Autoglass assured me that the car was safe to drive even with a crack top to bottom.
Then in middle July it bloody rained screens, every body had them. Autoglass(Lincoln) still did job and did it well. Took car to them and they had it 11/2 days. Cost £60 on ins. (New screen from dealer aprox £400 inc vat)
Most dealers wont keep screens because they turn up broken.
Wouldnt think dealership would fit own screens, but take them to glass co.
Hope you get resolved quickly, and cheaply!
Dave.
