Not a good day!
Discussion
Got home from work early today, so decided to go for a quick spin, stopped to fill up, when I tried to start the car...click..click and nothing else...sh*t!
No-one insight with a pair of jump leads so had to call recovery. Meanwhile while I was waiting it started to rain, so I thought I had better put the roof on, pulled the lever under the steering wheel (manual cable as it is an S2)...SNAP No way... the cable snapped!, so inside of the car got soaked.
Anyway, finally got home, wet and p*ssed off!
Alternator looks OK, and seems to be charging, so need advice on type of battery to buy and where from, previous threads suggest an 069 from Partco, is this the best choice?
Also, the cable has snapped where it joins the lever under the steering wheel, anyone had any experience fixing/replacing this?
Any help would be appreciated

Sounds like a bad day !!!
Battery wise, i have been through a couple and seem to find that the bible is correct in suggesting that the 2.9 v6 prefers the standard 3.5 V8 battery.
If you dont get any more helpful answers I can have a look tomorrow and let you know the cold cranking rate etc
Cheers

I went for the oversized 072 the one used in the Grif/Chim I think) and it works great, I saw a big improvement in starting the car and I never use any charger.
As for the boot, it might be a good time to change over to the gas strut and electric boot release, it puts less strain on the cable.
That reminds me forgot to send the guys the pics of how its done S**t?

Are you sure it is the battery that needs replacing? I had the same problem a couple of months ago and the AA came out and tested the battery and said I needed a new alternator. I had a new one out in and still nothing.
Took it to my local TVR mechanic(or got him to pick it up) and the problem was a loose wire????
So test the battery and alternator first before you replace them.
