Does anyone have any opinions about these two lenses ? I have searched several photography forums and I haven't come across anything definite about them. Would I be stupid to change the 18-70 considering that I would use it less often at 70 than I would at 18 ? Or would I, This is me getting back into SLR's in 4 years and frankly I've forgotten alot. It's going onto my D1X and I'll be shooting RAW mostly, the only JPEGS will be for the University Paper and a few straight to web projects. Basically if the 18-70 is pretty close the 18-35 then I'll have it but If i"m going to loose noticeable quality then I want an argument to go to the 18-70 considering that i can't really justify that I just want it.

Edited to add : I am hoping to upgrade to a 17-55 by January so what do you think the second hand figures would stack up like ? I'm not adverse to loosing a £50 - 60 but if it's a big drop then I think I'll wait.

ATBE you may as well stay with the 18-70. I just looked at the 18-35 specs and it's the same speed, so I don't see the advantage.

However the 17-55 f2.8 is a different beast and is next on my own wants list, though I can't justify it at preesent. A new 18-70mm is around £199 and is probably in good demand due to the people who got 28-80s then realised they have no wide angle - so I'd hope to get maybe £130 on eBay. Just a guess though.
