My Tuscan won't go into 5th gear, 1 to 4 and reverse are okay but I don't know if it's my imagination but they all seem a bit stiffer to engage.
If any one can help/advice I'd be gratefull.

Sounds like a clutch problem. If your pedal is getting lighter check the brake fluid level. If your pedal is getting heavier the clutch could be on the way out e.g. broken finger.

Cheers,

Andy.

the same happened to me earlier this year. Not the Clutch sadly but the gearbox, had to be rebuilt. The 'box is the same I seem to recall as a ford escort turbo or something of the sort

Could be the clutch as mentioned, but I seem to remember a thread a while back mentioning 5th gear being notably weaker due to the design of the 'box.

IIRC there is a small circlip or similar that holds that cog / shaft in place, and it can work loose, resulting in just that gear failing.

A quick e-mail to someone like Joolz (trackcar) should point you in the right direction.

Mine went a couple of months back too and it
turned out to be the box. Got another one with
just 6000 miles on it from Douglass Valley breakers.
They always have plenty in stock as it is a large
place with a lot of cars.

That sounds more like it; 5th is weaker - and, from memory, I think the standard circlip's not great.

Box is a T5, by the way (can't remember if Borg Werner or Tremec ended up owning that license).

Nelly - back on the road yet?
