When would you fight for your country ?
Discussion
Talking to a few mates at the rugby club last night about war, some of them ex army. We got onto when would we put ourselfs up to fight, most said they wouldn't unless there was a draft.
I wouldn't go overseas to fight unless there was a draft but would gladly put myself forward if there was a attack on our shores. you ?

Might have had a car industry left, and a less totalitarian regime than we have now!
I'd fight for my family, friends and way of life when directly threatened.
This "fighting for your country" does not hold the same meaning as it once did.
I would never heed a modern governments call to fight for your country cos its all about politics.
Blairs willingness to pay a blood price over iraq, is just political and public relations. He has no concern for those killed other than the effect it has on his popularity and hold on power.
I agreed with the war in iraq, but not the bullshit way they went about it i.e. the justification etc etc

I thought WE declared war on germany, and WE went over there to fight them first? We only went defensive after the huge cock up at dunkirk.

Thing is didnt we help their motor industry rebuild after the war. Would the likes of BMW exist if it wasnt for the war. Dont forget the BMW logo is symbolic of a white propeller blade, against a blue sky. It reflects the origins of BMW as a maker of military aircraft engines during the first world war.
