Just rec'd this e-mail...

Dear xxxxxxxxxx.co.uk,

We recently reviewed your account, and suspect that your PayPal account may have been accessed by an unauthorized third party. Protecting the security
of your account and of the PayPal network is our primary concern. Therefore, as a prevention measure, we have temporarely limited access to sensitive PayPal account features.

Then when on to say logon at this link and confirm all your security details. Sender address was: service@paypal.com

I've ignored it.

I get one of these every 2-3 days. The easiest way to tell is paypal always address you by your full name, not 'paypal customer'. Also, when you hover over the link it normally comes up with a totally different website.

Scam

Never log in through an e-mail link, they are just too easy to spoof. If you want peace of mind, just log in through the normal paypal front page.

It must be a scam surely, considering the poor spelling. I'd expect paypal to proof read their standard messages prior to sending.

I've also given this some more thought and I now know it's a scam.

Because the e-mail address they used is the one I put in my adverts not my actual paypal e-mail address.

Hahahaha, busted!

Best thing to do is click (I think this is right) tools->Block sender

Then they automatically go into your deleted items section.

Yes. I've had several that seem to come from PayPal, but if you click on the link the URL is totally different.

Yeah, as others have said; rule of thumb, never click a link to security in the e-mail, always go via the main page (eg paypay.com)

I got caught by this a while ago. As said, if genuine it will address you by name AND you will have a copy in your E-bay messages. Log on there securely and don't reply to anything you're not sure of. Report anything "iffy" to spoof@ebay.com or spoof@paypal.com. This way they should be able to track the buggers down.

I reported the first PayPal spoof I got to PayPal - me being helpful and all that.

Subsequently PayPal shafted me over a refund.

So now I don't bother to tell them about the spoofs any more.
