I'm sure this has been done to death before - in fact I may even have done it before - but I feel it's worthy of a mention again.

From a car driver:

Why the fuck do scooter riders think it's OK to filter through traffic then sit right at the front at the lights? When the lights go green all you hear is an annoying 2-stroke mosquito and then you're almost touching their back wheel as they reach their 30mph limit!!!!! They hold up traffic like this and make me boil!

From a bikers point of view:

Why the fuck do scooter riders think it's OK to filter through traffic then sit right at the front of the traffic without letting bikes through to the front??? I've lost count of the times this has happened and I've had to horn the inconsiderate b*stards to let me join them at the front....you know they know your there....50mm termis

Thats got that off my chest.

Firstly, its not our fault we have to go at 30mph. Blame the government, and trust me its annoying for us as well as you.

I filter through traffic, but if I see a bike coming I let them go past first, or always make room for a bike at the front of lights.

Yes the sounds annoying but again I can't do anything about that because putting a different exhaust on de restricts it, which can lead up soething like 15 points and an unlimited fine if caught - get 6 points on your licence if the first 2 years and its taken off you.

Its annoying, and I accept that its annoying for both other bikers and cars, so I'm as courteous as possible, always move over to the left a bit if I think the car behind can overtake me easily etc etc.

I'd happily de restrict my bike and not inconvenience people anymore, but I want to keep my licence. We've all got to start somewhere.

It's a big problem in London - there's thousands of the buggers here.

Yes, but its not really their fault. They chose a scooter so they can get around easily, and if they are 16 they probably need one to get to work easily. Its this governments fault that they sound annoying and can only do 30mph.

It's a big problem in our village... they can only make 15mph up the hill and it takes them ages...

EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE EEEEEEE

...and then the buggers try to go down the hill as fast as they can. One w/e these kids must have gone up and down the hill ten times... I almost had enough time to apply for a shotgun license.

Yes it is their fault!

I'm not having a go at the scoots - it's the behaviour of the riders thats winds me up. MOVE OVER TO THE SIDE YOU SLOW !!!!!

Oi, I paid my £15 road tax () so I have every right to use the road as you do. Anyway, you shouldn't need to voertake a scooter as 30mph is the speed limit in most of London

Just remember, most scooter riders are probably just as annoyed about only going at 30mph as you are, so they are just trying to use their size to their advantage.

I got 39mph down a really big hill a couple of weeks ago .

Doesn't give you the right to get in the way of faster vehicles.

I can understand that its annoying, even I find it infuriating at times, but its good fun and more of a challenge to try and beat the traffic. These guys may be future bikers, you never know, and surely you'd prefer a 16yr old to be restriced to 30mph rather than being able to do 60, and probably wanting to max the scooter out where ever he can, thus becoming more of a dnager on the road?

How is sitting at a front of a line of pissed off motorists fun? There is no challenge as cars can beat you in 1st gear.

I very much doubt that they will be. Most scooter riders are in an interim phase before having the availability of the car option. Knowing that the UK weather is s**t and the endless possibilities of fumblings in the back seat of car trying to figure out where she keeps her clitoris, is enough to tempt most youngsters away from scooters at 17. Your average 17 year old would not be in a position to afford both car and motorcycle training, insurance, and purchasing so by default it would be quite some before they would be in a position where they would get back on 2 wheels.

Bloody good thing too; most of their attitudes reak of immaturity and some are proving to be the most unsafe of road users. I repeatedly see instances of irrational and unplanned movements and general messing about. There was a group of scrotes at Boxhill recently. I recall one of them nearly bouncing off a car bonnet as he had no idea of observation.

Small point, but most speed limits in London are 30mph!! And yes it is annoying, I'm a biker who commutes in every day but scooters just like every other vehicle are supposed to take a commanding position of the lane they are in. There are the odd few idiots but generally evryone finds there way through.

I think patience is needed here!!

Yeh, but on my CBT I was taught to sit in the centre of the lane - too far to the left and cars try and squeeze past you, even when there are other cars coming towards them, so the centre of he road is the safest place and keeps you out of all the crap in gutters etc.

Flat to the tank, throttle fully open. I didn't dare look at the revs, but it must have been red lined at least (11k RPM!). The engine sounded a little funny for a few minutes after that but seems to be sorted now. First service in 150 miles anyway

Guys,

Just want to say this. I have been at work all day (still there!) and reading this string made me laugh out aloud.

"EEEE EEEEEEEEE EEEEEEEEE" was a stroke of genius, as was the suggestion of clitoris hunting.

The main annoyance for me is the acceleration.
They push in front of you and proceed to accelerate at the same speed as a pedestrain making you ,the biker sat behind them, look like the thats pushed in front of everyone to promptly hold them all up.
Not right.

I wish the scooter riders around here would learn the difference between 'filtering' and 'driving in the opposing traffic stream'.

Never fear, though. Those puffa jackets and trainers will keep them well protected.

Its a bummer having to ride about at the speed limit isnt it.

Get a perspective FFS.

Why do you assume there is a pecking order, you arrogant tt.

If these riders had insurance/ road tax then they have just as much right to be on the road as you.

Its really funny watching other bike riders attitude to scooter riders, i used to ride one as it suited me journey to work, much more than my VFR or Porsche yet other road users assume you ride them because you cant afford anything else.

Makes it all the better filtering and getting to the fornt of the que, if you dont *ucking like it then ride a scooter and stop bleating about it, you sound like a woman.
