I got nicked for speeding on the 20/08/05. They give me a fixed penalty
so i payed the fine and now have just received this letter from the central ticket office saying that

Vehicle Reg AB05CDE fixed penalty issued on 05/08/05

i am in the possession of you driving licence, which has been submitted to ******** Police station connection with the above Fixed penalty Notice.

If you will provide the following details, I shall then be able to proceed further with this matter.

The serial Number of the Notice :

The offence Code:

The date of the offence took place:
(including Police Force)

Now can they still give me points if i do not give the info to them
or just forget about it and see what happens

Thanks Neil

You could reply (looks better than just ignoring it) saying that you have thrown out the paper work with the serial number and the offence code, and forgotten the date the offence took place. They can't do you for having a bad memory !

Following the issue of the FPN then a copy is forwarded to Magistrates Clerks Office of the area in which the offence was committed so that they can marry up when FPN is paid. If not married up in 28 days then Police are notified and Court action is taken.

Just guessing but it would appear that the copy for the MCO has gone walkabouts but the DL hasn't so there is a record somewhere. Can only suppose in a case like this then if no reply to their letter, they will refer the matter back to the Police who will have a record by number of that issued and possible Court action, where, if you were lucky would attract a similar fine to that of the FPN BUT you would have to pay the costs of the CPS Prosecutor anywhere between 30 and 60 quid approx.

Your decision now.
