Just thought I'd do a little looksee and see who's going to this? Are any of you going down the night before? Or are you going down on the Sat morning? How about getting a high-velocity convoy going? :)

Going down Friday, might even get out of work at 12 so I can enjoy the drive without the other half of Auckland.....ring me and we should organise a gathering, I know a few good ways to get south...

Cool... where you staying? Would make sense if a few of us end up going down Friday afternoon and end up staying at the same place.... going down the night before seems to make good sense to me.... else it'll be a REALLY early start in the AM.

I think the Cascades motor Inn on the beach front, most of the club stay there - nice, centre & tidy.

Let me know or call me, might book tomorrow.

I'm looking forward to getting down there but it won't be this time as it's my daughter's birthday and she has the entire w.e roped off. i guess it'll be the "friendly" in January. Have a blast!

I'm looking at going down Friday afternoon probably (depends on work) so how about a meet time and place , maybe the BP station between Papakura and Drury?
Ohiniwai to Tahuna is a good run.

Well I've booked my leave for next friday afternoon... all I need to do now is book some accommodation. You booked in at the Cascades yet Dean? Anyone else booked in here? Would be good to convoy down and stay in the same place.

So far we've got Dean (Kiwi LE), Mark (Kiwikid), Richard (Photochromatic) and Me who are all looking at (possibly) heading down Friday afternoon and staying overnight for Friday or Fri+Sat nights. I'm looking at staying Friday night myself, might see if I can convince the Missus to make the trip down with me friday night or saturday afternoon by herself (so she misses the car bits) and we can stay the extra night and make a weekend of it.

I've enquired about reservation at the Cascades (as Dean suggested) so maybe we'll get a few people staying at the same place, which would be quite cool.

A convoy down would be great... where are all the other usual suspects? Kylie? Roger A? Bruce (lawrence1)? Furthermore what about Tony Ingram (I KNOW he won't be able to resist showing off his 111R) and Dean Savage? these gys will surely be there won't they?

I'd suggest a meet-up at the BP papakura in the early afternoon and a drive down to Taupo in convoy from there, maybe taking the scenic route on the way

Sound good anyone?

Sounds like a plan doesn't it?
I'll either be staying at the Cascades or close by. Friday afternoon convoy sounds like a starter...

I saw you this morning (AGAIN) Photo.... unless there's another red 111R going around the Orakei Basin just after 8am.... if you ever see a white 1980s Mitsubishi Spacewagon flashing its lights at you and the driver waving like a madman, that's just me

Oh and yes... convoy ahoy!.. as I said, BP papakura early afternoon... I'll be working until midday, allow 45 minutes or so for packing, I should be able to make it to papakura by 1:30pm ish

That will have been me - late start.
Every now and again I get myself caught in traffic to remind myself why I get up early.

Elise at 0700 = 12 mins - lovely way to start the day.
Elise at 0800 = 50 mins - clutch cramp and petrol fumes in the cockpit

I contacted Cascades today and the room I was after getting went today so it's wither a larger, family-sized room there or somewhere else... there's a conference across the road from Cascades that weekend so it's busy..... anyone know of any other hotels nearby in a similar price bracket? I'm bringing the missus with me so will be staying saturday night as well and returning home Sunday.

Anyone else who's not going to Cascades staying elsewhere? Would be nice to not be the only Lotus onwer at the Motel I end up in... that way if I sleep in in the morning, those who get up early can rouse me!

Dean, you didn't tell us you'd gone and gotten married! Congratulations! I hope this doesn't put an end to further Elise-Modifying-Madness! Look forward to your return... A convoy definitely seems the way to go! Just have to find myself a bed now

Hehe aah ok... yeah I usually leave home around 8ish.... sadly I'm not in a Lotus so the trip is boring and mundane no matter what the traffic situation is!... never mind.. not long until school summer holidays and a lack of traffic on the roads Wish I had a house with a garage so I could take the 'liz home at night!

Yes he did . . . well, kind of . . . if you read the thread while facing East, hopping on your left leg, and whistling.

Otherwise it sounded like his mother eloped.

Anyway Congrats again Dean. I presume the pre-nup allows for affairs with one 'Elise'

Dean if your on your honeymoon and on here Congrats btw!! Their lingo is based on Maori - sorry! Their beliefs if you ask the locals is that before you and I and james cook were around the people who committed a crime in Raro were sent in canoes in the masses on a trip to who knows? So they say the buggers ended up here...?

Back to Taupo, I shamefully lower my head in my hands I can't make this trip...bugger! Its crossed over with another event thingy I am choosing to do this yr. I will make myself available for Puke early next yr though.

Unforgivable!.... hehe ever since I've had my Lotus, you've been otherwise engaged.... hehe at least at Pukekohe I can look at swapping times with you as we're evenly matched

Hi Kylie,

If you mean January 5th, please let me know soon because it is almost full already.
Only one other Esprit (besides George!).
It would be good to see you there.

If you meant CLNZ sprints in April, that's like 110 days away!
If you meant something else altogether - what am I not signed up for?!

So is that even all the way around the track ? Or just even lap-time ?

Even lap time.... from what Kylie's told me of her past exploits there.... She's a little quicker on the straight bits due to better earodynamics and more ponies, but I'm more nimble around the tighter bits. Kylie runs track-tyres though so even around Taupo, she's no slug
