there is one car than can be made for 9000 to 1000 and if you are handy with sheet metal and can make the tank and other bits it could be as low a 8000 but you will have to have BMW 6 motor not V8 at that price, look in WKC to see the only BMW based car on the market (at the moment) as it's name is "Taboo" on this site.

When you say buy a Cobra, do you mean buy a new kit to build or a ready built car to work on?
If it's the former then you've got a problem. The only company who reckon you could build a kit within your budget is Euro 427 Sportscars (www.euro427sportscars.com) with their Sierra based car. Even then you'd probably have to cut corners on brightwork etc. and a V8 is out of the question.
You've probably more chance by getting an old Cobra that needs tidying (but again, V8 power not likely at that price) or buying an 'unfinished project' that somebody has given up on.

Sorry, i did not make myself clear. I would most probably be looking to buy a ready made kit car which is in a bit of a state and do it up/buy a half finished kit and finish it off. However i think the former would be the cheaper option. So will i have a hope?
I would be VERY CAREFUL buying a half built Cobra kit, or any kit for that matter, best to either build one yourself from scratch or buy a fully built one with full MOT etc, although for that kind of money you are probably only looking at a Pinto engined car, which you MAY find disappointing, try and go for a Rover V8 engined one if possible....
If only for the sound....
But look before you leap, there's a LOT of crap out there which could end up bleeding you dry....
All imho of course.....

Hi Graham.
I had heard that Euro 427 had closed it's doors, but this should be confirmed before being taken as gospel.
Hi Dave.
As the web site seems to have disappeared it looks like you're probably right.
When I spoke to Nigel at Stoneleigh he said things were a bit slack.
Shame, because it was a decent car for the money.
That would almost certainly be cheaper.
However, contrary to what Wacky Racer said, don't discount the idea of buying somebody else's abandoned project. These can often get you a complete, unused kit with mechanical bits included for a lot less than the cost of buying a new kit.
However, if going this route you want a kit that's:
a) still in production so you can get any missing bits if necessary.
b) capable of passing SVA, because you're wasting your time if it isn't.

Theres every chance that you could get a pre built Q plated Cobra, perhaps a very rough V12 Dax or something like, for under £8k. A friend has done exactly that.
Unfortunately thats when the expenses start.
He's had to replace the engine and box, all the brakes, the rear axle, all the trim, the instruments, the braking system, the tyres, refurbished the wheels, done a top notch paint job and spent hours and hours putting it all together.
In the end its probably cost him slightly less than it would have done to build a new kit.
If you want a good looking and adequately performing Cobra by buying a rough completed kit at the sub £8k level, budget that it will cost you the same as the purchase price to rebuild the car.
If you want to go the uncompleted kit route assume that you will have to replace and rebuild everything bar the chassis.........but get that checked over as well !!
In the first instance visit and join the Cobra Replica Club website and ask for advice there..
Cheers,
Tony
