S2 Boot Leakage
Discussion
I've been having some problems with my boot leaking. Has soaked all my books (Elise manual and stereo manual), and made some stuff that was in there pretty smelly!
I've sounded out my dealer as it's still under warranty (it's going in for an unrelated problem on Monday) and they suggest it's because I park it on my drive facing down a slope and that they all do this parked facing downhill, and the only way to remedy it is to put some vasaline round the seal.
Does this sound like I'm being fobbed-off here? Surely there's something they can do (there's certainly not much I can do about the inclination of my drive).
Any ideas?

Jason, the drain hole is probably blocked or the drain-pipe in the boot has come loose.
If it's the same set-up as the S1 (which I guess it must be) open the boot and look under the boot catch. You'll be able to see like a u-bend affair which connects to the hole in the bodywork above, and then into a drainage pipe which routes out through the bottom of the car. This can get quite clagged up with cack in Autumn, Spring & Winter. Give it a good cleanout and stick it back on, all should be ok.
Alternatively have the dealers do this for you under warranty - if you've paid for it they should check and sort it. Sounds like laziness if you ask me.

That's what I was thinking! Roll your sleeves up, boys!
Tim, think I parked next to you at VW today - nice machine.
Thanks for the tips!
