Can you fix a curbed allloy?

Hi Folks,

Well I was stupid enough to curb my rear alloy last night in a car park. Wasn't concentrating enough and the helpful carpark people painted their curbs black so I just didn't see it. So the result was a 3 inch scar on the edge of the rear alloy.

Is this something those alloy repair people can fix? Has anyone used an OPC to have this done? Or is it stuffed and I will have to buy a new alloy? The wheel is an 18 inch turbo II alloy.

Appreciate any advice.

The OPC at Staple's Corner recommended Lepson's in Gillingham (www.lepsons.com) when I curbed an 18" Sport Design on my old 996. They did a good job and previous posts on here have been positive about them. Good luck.

Depending on where you are, I got mine done at Spit & Polish in Tonbridge, who did an excellent job !

Had all 4 of my 996 TT wheels done at Wicked Wheels (places all over the UK) for £210 inc Vat, good job too.

Another vote for Lepsons...speak to Chris or bossman Tony (who owns a 996, coincidentally). Got my Sport Classics refurbed there a couple of weeks ago, spanking job (BTW...if you go to an OPC, pretty much all of the southern based ones send them to Lepsons anyway, just cut out the middleman)

Single piece rims about £50+VAT, split rims £95+VAT...add another £5/wheel if you want to colour different from stock.

The touch up services such as Wicked Wheels will do it while you wait - full refurbs such as Lepsons will take a few days.

Also - have a look at another thread that was started only a day ago which gives details of alloy refurbs... it's worth checking recent posts prior to starting a new thread. This also ensures that all relevant information is consolidated in a single thread - 3 'alloy refurb' threads have been started within a day or so.

Wicked Wheels did all 4 of mine. Dropped off the car first thing & picked it up at 4pm. They also ran me home & collected me - not a bad service !

Spit 'n Polish in Kent did a good job on a set of 4 alloys for me.
They were 18 inchers. They charged about £275.00 from memory and did an ace job.

What about this then - luckily not on Porker, but the wife's C-MAX. I was getting annoyed by the squeaking from the rear brakes so decided to pop the pads out, add some copper grease, pop them back in and sail off squeal free.

Thought it would be quick and simple so (stupidly) opted to do it with the car resting on a trolley jack as the axle stands were buried in the shed. Guess what ? Dropped the car off the jack onto the removed wheel I had placed under the sill - luck really as next stop was my head !

So, Ford alloy now has a bloody great chunk out of it where it "supported" the car and the tyre won't keep air in it for long. Doh. !! Don't think anyone can fix that.....
