Hi

I'm thinking of having a bit of a 'rationalisation' of my BMW collection. I've sold the silver 840Ci Sport I had advertised on here. Now I'm thinking of selling my E30 M3

and my Alpina E36 B3 3.0 Coupe

After nearly 25 years of BMW ownership I was thinking of having a change of marque and maybe looking to get a DB7. However, the more I look into it the more doubtful I become. Seems to me that for similar sorts of money I'm looking at another 10-year-plus old car...and am I right in thinking the 6-cylinder DB7's aren't actually that fast a car by modern standards? Additionally, I did read on one Aston website: "The definition of an optimist is someone who thinks they can just about afford an Aston Martin!" LOL
Realising the above has made me think...

What about an E46 M3 CSL. I came close to going for a 'straight' E46 M3 about a year and half ago. Great car...but now there seem SO many on the roads and up for sale and really I'm looking to get something a bit 'different'. What do you reckon of a CSL?...Liveable with on a daily basis? Any other thought?
Thanks in advance!

IMO you would never look back. I'm lucky enough to drive the M3 CSL on occasion. Awesome, and I drive a GT3 everyday.

CSL or '6 Aston is NO contest in my eyes.

Shameless plug, mine is for sale at a good price and yes there is absolutely no comparison with anything at it's price point. Build quality, pace, handling etc is all a match for a GT3 MkII and only very slightly behind the GT3 RS.

They really are a genuine day-day proposition, I've had mine a year and done 15,000 odd miles in it. Huge boot, more room in the rear than a std M3 thanks to the slimline seats and the handling is excellent over bumpy roads. Hard to fault really, and now mugs like me have been caned on the initial depreciation there are real bargins to be had!

Had mine 3 weeks and I love it. I bought it so that I could also fit the kids in if required. All my 12 year old son keeps saying is "Go on cane it"

Thank you, gentlemen!

You've said everything I wanted to hear...and everything my wife didn't!

Once the E30 M3 and Alpina B3 go...you know where I'm going!

LOL

Had my Black CSL for 18 months, 28,000 miles, the car is amazing, awesome, at present there is nothing avaliable new or used that could repace it. I use it everyday for work, I do about 8 track days a year.
I have a seperate set of BBS wheels with cups on for track, keep my original CSL wheels with road tyres for everyday work.
