It's only really noticable at slow speeds, ie. leaving the garage/junctions/roundabouts. I guess it happens at irregularities in the road, so that's why I thought suspention...I think. Will go for a blat in the morning with my sensible head on (would go now but it's p1551ng down with rain and I've drank a bottle of rather nice Rioja (Faustina 1 ) )

After years of research I've got it down to:-

Canon 20D
Sigma 12-24 DG HSM
Canon 28-135 IS
Canon 100 f2.8 macro
Canon 100-400L IS
Canon 580 EZ flash
+ a few bits.

I figure if I stay slim then I'm only carrying the same weight as your average beer swilling bloke!

OK... just popped the clam. When the f/os wheel is pushed/pulled from the top this induces a clicking noise not disimilar to that heard when the car is moving, I just can't pinpoint the source. I can't get any noises when the steering wheel is turned, no matter how fast.

Jack the front up.

Grab the wheel top and bottom, and rock it. If you can feel it moving then it's the ball joint.

Also, preferably with someone holding the steering wheel, or with the other wheel chocked and firmly on the ground, wiggle/pull it on the left and right hand side.

If either has any significant (i.e. you can feel it) movement then it's a replacement bearing job. It's not too hard from what I'm told, and any 'garage' or competent person can do it, but I've never done it as I can't be arsed with all that dirty hand stuff and Moley does it for me at around £60 a pop.
