4500 rpm rev limiter on a 4.3 ?

seems to start that characteristic missfire consistent
at exactly 4500 rpm in 2nd and 3rd gears (not tried others)

anyone know what could be causing it ?

Loose distributor or vacuum advance. Ignition problem.
These would be the first things to check.

I had this problem at a track day recently. Cleaning up the 36 pin ECU connector seems to have solved the problem.

Does it happen the same at part throttle and full throttle?

If it happens under load/acceration, then mine displayed exactly the same symptom. Although mine had a catalogue of issues, so not sure which was the main cause, i was told that this symptom is often charactoristic of a warn cam.
