Wireless bridge...
Discussion
I've got a setup at home with a Linksys WAP54G access point. I've just bought an eyeHome (playes movies, music, photos on your TV from a mac) which claimed to be wireless. What it actually is, is a box with an ethernet socket, and a seperate wireless access point that supports WDS.
I believe I need to get a bridge setup between the 2. The linksys has a few options, but the AirVast access point that came with the eyeHome only has WDS.
Any wireless experts here know how to do this? There is third party firmware that supports WDS available for the Linksys, but if it's set up as a wireless bridge, can I still use it as an access point?
The eyeHome instructions are only based on using Apple's Airport Extreem base station, and the setup instructions for the wireless AP they provide actually bear no resemblance to the web based setup I actually get.
Help! Please...

Not familiar with that Linksys, or the eye thing, but it sounds like you've got everything you need hardware wise.
I'd plug the eye's wireless bridge into your PC via the ethernet port to start off with, to set up the wireless connection. Once that's working then move it back onto the eye and you should be rocking.
For instructions for setting up the eye's bridge once it's connected to your PC, scour the surface for maker's marks and google them.
Hope this helps

^^^ wot aldi said... can't you just plug the etherent port of the eyeHome into the back of you WAP54G, and bypass the wireless link altogether?
Setting up WDS is not normally too tricky, but often the WDS links are Vendor Specific, so Apple WDS might not work with Linksys WDS etc.
Usually to get a WDS link up you need to make sure
1. Everything is running on the same wireless channel
2. Each router has the MAC address of the other router entered as part of the WDS settings (this can get confusing as the Linksys boxes often have 2 or 3 different MAC Addresses in the box - you need to make sure you've got the Wireless MACs)
3. I think some flavours of WDS require the SSIDs to be the same - but don't quote me on this.
