On a 996, there are 3 plastic strips on the dash. 2 small strips (1 either side of the steering wheel) plus 1 longer strip on the passenger side which has "AIRBAG" stamped into it.

Does anyone know how to remove them please?

To do it properly requires dash removal! They are held in with screws from behind.

Go to www.renn-tech.org and there is a tutorial on how to brute force them out and then just use glue to resecure.

If you ask an OPC if these strips can be changed, they say no as they don't like the second method.

I changed mine for carbon fibre ones. . . . Ten hours later!!!

If you have a 996 with the glove box it is a lot easier ( You don't have to take out the dashboard!!!) , but you still have to take steering wheel, speedo pod and other ancillaries to get at the screws.

Thanks guys. I didn't think it was going to be that hard!!

Yes, I have a glovebox so how long will it take for just the long strip?

It will still take a few hours........ and a few choice words, when you are lying in the most unusual position trying to undo all the little torx screws!! GOOD LUCK
