Green Godess on my bike. Admitedly going downhill but we both must have been flat out. My bike computer read 38 so if anyone spots a fire, give me a call and I'll be there before the fire service.

I hope you weren't speeding, I got clocked at 45 in a 30 on my downhill bike by a plod with a hair dryer.

After proving that I didn't have a computer to tell me how fast I was going he let me go.

I've had this too, I used to enjoy racing through Yeovil on my DH bike, until one day the plod pulled me over to tell me that I was speeding (all with a smirk) and that I should be a bit more careful. 43 in a 30...

Never mid the fact that I brake tested him...(Hope discs all round) tee hee...

Used to wind the Maxy Pee boyz up no end that I could hoon round the one way system faster than they could...

It's great fun when you see the coppers face, he was like I wasn't too bothered as I was kitted out in MX gear as we'd been doing some big drops, just got some speed up down the hill and then got pulled over

"excuse me sir do you know how fast you were travelling back there?"

NOPE

"aah, well why not?"

because I dont have a computer

"Oh right, well do you want to know how fast you were going?"

YER go on then

"45mph and it's 30 through here, don't do it again, be careful!"

Cool, ok bye!

Edited to say: Yer I had hope enduro's on mine, Monster T front forks and an 8" rear shock, bike cost close to £2000.

If you get a chance, try racing down the road from the Fort William DH course. Thats where I max'd out on my 222 so with slicks, the sky (or your nerves) are the limit.

MMMmmmmm nice.

My mate has just got the order form through for his Curtis CUSTOM BUILT bike, it's a hardtail made out of T45 with a lifetime guarentee on the frame!

had 49.9 mph on an mtb with off road tyres down a big hill in south gloucestershire, couldnt brake in time for a hairpin and managed to go through someones hedge and into their front lawn! i actually bounced over a telegraph pole stump so god knows what would have happened had it been there!
if you ever get the chance, beg, steal or bribe your way onto the velodrome at manchester, that is seriously good fun!.......

I think my speedo might be a bit optimistic, but the best I've had out of my MB is 50.7 coming down off Bear Mountain in southern NY state. I was running slicks (Specialized kevlar road) and 52 teeth on the front ring of my Klein Attitude Comp. With a bit more bottle and some aero bars, I suspect that 55 might be feasible

Been pulled for 40+ in a 30....

Down a biiig hill on nice smooth tarmac slipstreaming my mate in a VW camper. His speedo said 50ish, but it *was* a camper.

He lifted before we entered the 30 limit. I went past him. Into the 30, past the pub with a copper in the car park.

He caught me as I went up the hill and had a chat.

"How fast were you going?"
"Not a clue"
"We reckon 40+. In a 30. Can you drive?"
"Nope"
"On your way then..."

Might be wrong here but doesn't the speed limit apply to motor vehicles only?

Alternative future scenario.......
if the speed limits drop to 10mph around schools are we going to get pulled over for running through the zone at more than 10mph?

I've airdragged buses up to about 40mph but that was in a NSL so wasn't speeding.

Have seen 110mph on the computer (mtb) but I suspect that it was slightly optimistic..... I was tanking down a hill in the pissing rain at the time and I reckon that the internals got wet and caused a misreading.

Can't seem to get my current bike beyond an estimated 40mph. It's simply the gearing. I need heavier gears. Also haven't used a computer in years.
Bike is a cheapo tiwanese frame (ultimate hardware but I've seen the same frame with loads of different brands/stickers on it) adorned with assortet tat including the most important bit. The Hope C2 disks.

Hope Discs, you're all a bunch of girls, try riding with just a rear 'V' brake, no front brake and one gear, no computer on the BMX so no idea what the speed is through my local trails
Seen high 30's on my Cannondale though

Wusses the lot of you, should be ashamed!
Hit 47 mph in my Powertrike wheelchair down a hill near my home.
Local Plod regularly use hairdryer at bottom of hill where it gets a 30 limit, just waiting until they set up again, can you imagine the look on their faces as a wheelchair tears down the hill straight at them......
Speed matters!
