Its Mrs B17NNS 30th in December.

Want to take her down to that there London.

Will aim to depart Stafford or Stoke on Friday evening (9th December) by train.

Take in a show on Saturday (recommendations please) and have a nice bit of tea (recommendations please).

Want to stay in a good hotel (recommendations please for a nice contemporary place) and probably spend Sunday doing a bit of Christmas shopping with view to heading home that evening.

All advice greatly appreciated.

Show, pick your choice, loads on

From there walk around the corner to the Gaylord if curry is your bag.

Then walk back the other way, stay Claridges, shop locally.

All within about 1 mile of each other.

For the hotel, I'd say the K, The Sanderson, St Martin's Lane (close to the theatres and pretty cool), the Metropolitan (guests get into the Met Bar), or the Berkeley is a bit special.

If you're feeling touristy I suppose you could go to the Ritz - lastminute always seems to have deals.

In fact, try to book the lot on lastminute and you might save enough for a doner each on the way back to the hotel.

Where's that? Is it particularly good? I've never met a curry I didn't like but I'd like to try somewhere amazing.

yep seconded. Love the Sanderson, but it's not cheap.

Billy Elliot is THE show to see at the moment.

If you want tickets for a certain night and don't mind paying over the odds, it is possible to get them.
(if you know who to talk to )
Probably talking around £80/ticket.
convenience costs...

For all round service, quality and ambience it beats my other two favourites, The Star Of India on Gloucester Road and Chutney Mary on the Kings Road hands down...

Last weekend I did Kensington Roof gardens for some nosebag, Woman in White for the show and the Dorchester for the hotel.

I'd recommend all three. The service and facilities in the Dorchester were second to none, the food in the roof garden was lovely. Show wasn't bad either.

I've also heard The Producers is well worth a see.

If you want a special restaurant, try this onewww.sarastro-restaurant.com. Its in Drury Lane and soooooooo theatrical, darling. The murals in the toilets are well worth the visit alone

My missus is rather fond of afternoon tea at the Savoy.

This all sounds lovely, but the lad had to sell his soul that evening

Sorry Plotloss, Ive obviously not made myself clear.

I don't want to see a show.

The idea of sitting watching theatrical types poncing about on a stage for a couple of hours without cigarette breaks fills me with dread.

She who must be obeyed however will enjoy it and that is the purpose of this excercise.

So whats good and will I be able to get tickets?

Right...... there is a certain restaurent with great views overlooking the Thames as it is situated at the top of a large historical structure once used to advertise a certain type of flavouring cube.

You could take her there? I took my Mrs there a few years ago, I enjoyed the view and although a little bit cramped in there the food was good.

Think she would probably like Billy Elliot or something like that (she is also into ABBA).

KWest hotel looks really nice and quite good value.

Not after anything too poncy food wise, just something that says to her 'hey, I put some thought into organising all this for you, arent I clever'

I did take her up there though, the restaurent, the Oxo tower I mean. Well the other too, but never mind that.

It was nice, the food I mean. But it was a bit cramped the tables are really close together so it didn't seem very intimate. Not sure I'd go there again.

I thought the Oxo was WAY over money for what it actually was.

it was about the same as Chapter II in Blackheath in terms of the food quality but about 15% more expensive. The view is good though.
